Summary
George’s symptoms started when he was twenty-three years old. At the time he was living in a shared student house that was not that clean. He had a relationship with a fellow student who was rebellious and did not have the best oral hygiene.
The first symptoms George experienced was frequent urination with a burning sensation. He visited a doctor who gave him some pills as the burning urination was really annoying him. George took the pills for three weeks but never really felt 100% better. He visited the doctor again who said George was fine despite him still not feeling great.
George then carried on trying not to worry about his symptoms. By 2012 he was on a long bus journey in Turkey that took twelve hours. There was no toilet on the bus and George was in excruciating pain to urinate. He eventually urinated in a plastic bottle at the back of the bus and was surprised to find only a very small amount actually came out of him. His relief was huge, but it seemed strange to him he was in so much pain for such little urine output.
By the middle of 2013, George returned to Greece and joined the Army. By now he was urinating small amounts ten or eleven times a day. George went to see a psychologist in the army given he was urinating so much and was starting to feel stressed. The psychologist had no meaningful feedback to provide.
He went to another doctor in the Army who prescribed some tablets at the military hospital. George took all three boxes over a few weeks but nothing much happened. He possibly urinated a little faster.
In 2015, George moved to Berlin and for three years was not living a healthy lifestyle. He was clubbing quite a lot, drinking excessively and not resting or eating well. His frequent urination made him very anxious and less confident. He felt like he started to develop psychological problems and excess worry.
By the time George was twenty-six or twenty-seven, he was starting to have some sexual dysfunction problems. He visited a psychologist in Germany but was very shy to tell his story.
By 2019, George started to just live with his symptoms and just thought the stress, alcohol and partying in his life was just not good for him. He felt much better when exercising, partying less and eating healthier.
George still had burning during urination and very frequent urination. By now he had also started to experience very sharp pains in his lower abdomen.
“George started to think he had cancer and was starting to think very dark thoughts due to his painful symptoms”
The symptoms were always on George’s mind and was taking his energy. He did not express his feelings to his parents, friends or girlfriends and kept all the problems in his head.
During 2022, George decided to visit a urologist who did a urine test.
“The doctor said George had Chronic Prostatitis. He advised you just have to live with it, it’s a pain in the arse”
The urologist gave George some antibiotics and said you won’t be cured but you will feel some relief. George started to urinate better after the tablets but the effect soon wore off and the symptoms started again.
By the summer of 2022, George could not even sit down peacefully. He felt as if something was inflamed between his legs. Also, sometimes when he pooed, white liquid would come out of his penis. This really worried George.
By November 2022, George was starting to feel a very strong pain in his abdomen and arranged to visit another specialist urologist. He preyed this was the solution to his problems.
